Mahmud Zahaf
After obtaining his Bachelors of Law with an emphasis in Commercial and Corporate law from the University of Buckingham in 2012, Mahmud gained legal experience in the UK by joining the team at MS - Legal Solicitors. In 2013, Mahmud joined Zahaf & Partners as an Associate and has since then built a strong portfolio as a litigator in commercial and civil cases. Mahmud has built extensive experience working on various large-scale projects and advising multinational corporations on Libyan legal proceedings. He has led the legal work in setting up branch offices and joint-venture companies for foreign clients wanting to enter the Libyan market. Mahmud also advises foreign investors on corporate structuring and on their activities in Libya under Libyan Investment law.
Experience:
Legal advisor to Sahara bank in Libya on matters related to banking laws and governance policy.
Legal advisor to a major global defense and security business in Libya.
Drafting Construction and Cooperation agreements.
Advising many foreign oil and gas companies in Libya in regards to the Libyan market and in their dealings with the National Oil Corporation.
Drafting and reviewing various MOUs, shareholders’ agreements, and business plans for various foreign companies in Libya.
Successfully negotiated and executed agreements on behalf of foreign companies operating in Libya.
Acted as the legal advisor for the establishment of Assiraj Bank, the largest privately-owned bank in Libya.
